Cubs close with a win.

The Cubs beat the Houston Astros 5-4 to end their season 61-101.  The Cubs haven't lost so many games in one season since 1966 when their losses totaled 103.  Goats anyone?

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Cubs lose 100th game.

The Cubs lost to the worst team in baseball last night 3-0.  The Cubs now have 100 losses on the season with only 2 games to go against the lowly Astros.

Cubs avoid tying worst season ever.

The Cubs snapped a 7 game losing streak last night by beating Arizona 7-2.  It was the Cubs 60th win
in this long losing season.  They are now 60-99.  Can they sweep the Astros and avoid losing their 100th game of the season?

Cubs still struggling for 60

After yet another loss last night to the Rockies the Cubs remain with only 59 wins.  The Cubbies were drubbed 6-0 last evening.  They have 7 more opportunities to win that 60th game.  If they stay at 59 wins it will tie their worst record ever.  Theo, are you listening?  Try some goats.

Thursday, September 20, 2012

Will they get to 60?

With only 12 games to go the Cubs are 58-92.  The big question is will they get 60 wins?
If not they will either tie their worst season ever 59 wins or exceed it with only 58 wins.
What a miserable year for the Cubs.  Once again I am thankful for the even worse Houston Astros.
They already have 102 losses.

Cubs clobber Pittsburgh!

The Cubs destroyed the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday 12-2.  This gives the Cubs 52 wins against only 86 losses.  Wow!  The Cubs are awesome this year!

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Thank God for the Astros.

The Cubs lost again last night.  This time 4-1 to the Brewers.  The Cubs are 28.5 games out of first place.  At 49-79 I now have serious doubts they can win 60 games this season.  We may be looking at the worst Cubs team/season ever.  I still have a smidgeon of confidence that the Cubs will win 50 games.  Thank God for the Houston Astros who have only won 40 games so far.  They should be able
to prevent the Cubs from being the absolute worst team this year.  I still think Theo Epstein should
give serious consideration to Take Your Goat to Wrigley Day.  It couldn't possibly make the Cubs
any worse.

47-73

After 120 games the Cubs are a pathetic 47-73.  I have confidence they will get 60 wins though.
If they don't get at least 59 wins it will be their worst season ever.

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Cubs continue to falter.

The Cubs have lost 10 of their last 11.  That's ugly.  At 44-68 I have serious doubts that they will win 60 games this season.

Cubs coming on strong!

Better look out, the Cubs are closing in on first place.  After last nights drubbing of Arizona 8-1 the Cubs are only 14 games back in the NL Central.  Cubs have won 10 out of their last 14.  Go Cubs!

Sunday, July 8, 2012

Cubs blank Mets!

The Cubs defeated the Mets 7-0!  Ryan Dempster gets the win and the Cubs are heating up at 33-52.
Now they are tied with Houston for last place in their division.

Saturday, July 7, 2012

Cubs move out of last in their division.

With the Cubs 8-7 victory over the Mets last night they are no longer in last in the NL Central.
Houston takes the cellar at least for a day.  Go Cubs!  Beat the Mets again.

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

First to 50.

With the Cubs loss to Atlanta last night they became the first team to lose 50 games this season.  Cubs are back in dead last.  Now 30-50 and nearly at the halfway point of the season, I think the Cubs may be able to eek out 60 wins this year.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

4 wins in a row!

Cubs beat the Braves last night for their 4th win in a row.  Now at 30-49 they are tied with San Diego for last place.  Go Cubs go!!

Saturday, June 23, 2012

70 games played, 46 losses

The Cubs have played 70 games so far this season and have lost 46 of them.  This is good enough to give them the title of worst team in baseball again.  They are just a little worse than San Diego.

Saturday, June 9, 2012

Cubs regain sole possession of last place.

The Cubs have lost 4 in a row and have regained last place.  At 19-40 the Cubs are the worst team in
baseball.   At this pace the Cubs won't even win 60 games this season.  Go Cubs!!

Thursday, June 7, 2012

Another woeful day for Cubs.

The Cubs are once again gaining on San Diego for last place.  The Cubs were clobbered by Milwaukee yesterday 8-0.  On a brighter note, the Cubs did win against the Brew Crew 10-0 the day before.  But at 19-37 the Cubs are still a dismal team.

Cubs break losing streak

Cubs win!!!!  Cubs beat the Padres yesterday 11-7 and ended their 12 game losing streak.  The Twins also won so they remain tied for dead last.  Let's hope the Cubs can build on this and maybe win two in
a row.

The goat-to guys for cancer research - Joliet Herald News

The goat-to guys for cancer research - Joliet Herald News

These guys are great.  They are finally paying attention to my blog I am sure.

Cubs keep on losing.

The Cubs have now lost 12 games in a row.  It's their worst losing streak since starting the 1997 season 0-14.  With the loss the Cubs remain tied for last place with the equally futile Minnesota Twins.  This losing streak may end up being the most interesting about the Cubs this year.  Maybe they can break their all time losing streak which I am sure must be really bad.

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Cubs maintain hold on last place.

This is getting really ugly.  Cubs lost their 9th game in a row yesterday to Houston.  Come on Theo!  Put some damn goats in Wrigley!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Cubs own last place.

With their 8th loss in a row the Cubs are all alone in last place in all of major league baseball.
They are even doing worse than the Twins.  Now that is bad.  Go Cubs!!

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Cubs lose 7 in a row, still trail Minnesota

The Cubs have lost 7 in a row and still trail Minnesota by half a game for the race to last
place.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Only Minnesota worse than Cubs.

The Cubs keep on losing.  Only the Minnesota Twins have a worse record.  The Padres are tied with the Cubs for the second worst record in the whole league.

Friday, May 18, 2012

No good news for Cubbies.

Cubs lose to White Sox 3-2.  Cubs Remain in last place in their division.  Cubs are vying for last place in all of major league baseball.  Worst of all, Kerry Wood has announced he is retiring.  Nothing good to report for the Cubs.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Cubs beat rival 6-4.

The Cubs beat the not so well loved St. Louis Cardinals last evening 6-4.  Cubs improved to
15-20 and are still hanging on to last place.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Cubs back in tie for last place.

Cubs take 2 out of 3 from the Braves and find themselves back in a tie for last place in the NL Central
with Milwaukee.  Yesterday with the Cubs loss they had briefly snatched last place back from the
Brewers.  I think the Cubs can find a way to get last place all to themselves again.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Cubs 8-15.

The Cubs are 8-15 and in sole possession of last place in the NL Central.  At least Kansas City, Minnesota, and San Diego have worse records.  I don't think the Cubs owners have been reading
this blog.  I realize this blog is rather boring, but I still think it is a great idea to have goats in Wrigley to
end the curse.  I am even convinced it may be necessary for the Cubs to ever get back to the World Series.
What harm could be done other than maybe some damage to the grass and ivy?

Monday, April 16, 2012

Cubs drop to 3-7.

Apparently the goat hair isn't working.  Cubs lost big yesterday 10-3 to the Cardinals and are now 3-7.  The Cubs find themselves in a familiar place in their division. . . . last.

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Cubs win first game of season.

The Cubs won 4-3 over the Nationals for their first win of this season.  Jeff Samardzija from Valparaiso, Indiana got the win.  Cubs are 1-2 now and certainly on their way to many more wins.

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Cubs lose opener.

Cubs lost their opener to the Washington Nationals 2-1 today.  Bummer!  Maybe Theo will begin to consider some goats.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

One week until the Cubs season opener!

Only one week until the Cubs start playing games that count.  Yesterday Indiana native Jeff Samardzija pitched 6 scoreless innings striking out six batters.  He also hit a triple to help the Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 2-0.  Cubs are now 14-14 this spring.  I think they would really benefit from some goats in Wrigley.

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Cubs are average.

Cubs are 10 and 12 so far this spring.  Pretty average at this point.

Monday, March 12, 2012

Cubs are looking good.

Cubs are now 5 up and 4 down for the spring season after defeating the Reds.  Let's get some goats into Wrigley to ensure a World Series Championship!

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Cubs win 2 in a row!

With victories over the Colorado Rockies and the Kansas City Royals the Cubs have now won two in a row in the spring season to even their record at 2-2.

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Cubs lose again.

The Cubs found a way to lose again in their second game of the spring season.  The A's got the win 8-7.
I hope the Cubs are better in the regular season.

Monday, March 5, 2012

Cubs start with a loss.

Cubs lose spring opener 12-10 to A's.  Thank goodness these games don't count.

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Spring Training

Cubs first game in spring training is March 4th vs. the Oakland A's.  Opening Day is April 5th vs. Washington.  Go Cubs!!

Friday, January 13, 2012

We got Wood!

The Cubs have signed Kerry Wood to a $3 million one year deal.  He reportedly considered going to the Red Sox or the White Sox.  Thankfully he is staying with the Cubbies.  Presumably he will still be the Cubs closer or at least late game reliever.  Hopefully he can contribute to a successful Cubs season.
